Žalgiris had no chance against Hajduk

Vilnius "Žalgiris" had a very unsuccessful start to the UEFA Conference League third stage.

The Lithuanian club lost 2:5 at home in the first match against Split "Hajduk".

Already in the 5th minute, the guests took the lead with Michele Sego converting a penalty.

Just nine minutes later, Sego stepped up to take another penalty, but "Žalgiris" was saved by Vincent Šarkauskas.

In the 34th minute, "Žalgiris" equalized following a goal by Nikola Petković, but just before halftime, Sego scored again with a stunning free kick to put the guests ahead.

In the second half, "Hajduk" continued to dominate and scored three more goals, with contributions from Adrion Pajazitis, Dalisson de Almeida, and Rokas Pukštas, who has Lithuanian roots.

At the end of the match, the mood of "Žalgiris" fans was lifted slightly by a wonderful free kick taken by Marko Capan.
