Forward Lionel Messi played a decisive role as Inter Miami defeated New England Revolution 2–1 and returned to winning ways in the MLS.

In the 69th minute, Germán Berterame sent the ball into the net following an assist from the Argentine to equalize the score.

The Argentine’s show began in the 83rd minute, when, surrounded by three opponents, he refused to be intimidated and fired the ball into the net with a powerful shot.

After the match, Messi was asked how he felt about scoring the 937th goal of his career.

"Wow, really? No, I’m not chasing any records. I always say that they don’t really matter much to me.

I simply want to enjoy the games,” the Argentine replied.
