A Spanish politician threatened that the country would give up its right to host the 2030 World Cup.

Leader of Spain’s People’s Party (PP), Alberto Núñez Feijóo, stated that Spain could give up the right to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

The politician, who is running in the country’s parliamentary elections on November 29, expressed his position in an interview with the popular football show “El Chiringuito.”

Speaking about the venue for the upcoming championship final, the politician expressed a categorical position.

“Spain must host the World Cup final. If that does not happen, in my opinion, Spain should not participate in organizing this tournament at all,” Feijóo stated.

Journalists also asked him whether he would indeed seek Spain’s withdrawal from hosting the championship if FIFA decided to entrust the final to Morocco.

“Yes. The answer is yes,” he confirmed.

The 2030 World Cup will be held in Spain, Morocco, and Portugal.
