The head coach of the Spanish national team, Luis De La Fuente, commented on the chances of defender Dani Carvajal being called up to the national team ahead of the upcoming World Cup:

"D. Carvajal is a very important figure in our locker room."

"I actually talked to him, so I know what’s going on. He doesn't have a specific injury, nothing serious, but it will take time before he returns to his usual level."

"In the remaining few matches, we will see if D. Carvajal gets the chance and shows what he is capable of."

34-year-old Dani Carvajal has played 20 matches this season.

The Spaniard will leave the "Real" team after the season and will be looking for a new club.
