Premier League hot seats: a clear candidate and calm managers of the giants © PA

As the Premier League season gathers pace, the futures of several club managers are raising more and more questions. Poor results, dropped points, and growing pressure from supporters could prompt executives to make changes quickly.

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick is currently attracting the most attention after his team suffered a painful 3–0 home defeat to Bournemouth.

The Manchester club has now gone eight consecutive matches without a win and sits just 16th in the Premier League. These results have made Carrick the leading candidate to be the first manager to leave his post.

Crystal Palace manager Pierre Sage is also among those under the greatest pressure. Following 5–0 and 2–0 defeats to Brighton and Newcastle United respectively, his team has collected just seven points from eight matches and conceded more goals than any other side in the league.

Coventry City manager Frank Lampard has also entered the danger zone. His players have suffered six defeats in eight rounds, while a 1–0 home loss to Fulham has further complicated the team’s situation.
