Michael Carrick’s Manchester United suffered another embarrassing defeat on Sunday, losing 3–0 at home to Bournemouth.
Following the match, Carrick’s position became even more precarious, but the coach himself was in no hurry to discuss stepping down.
Interestingly, the coach received clear support from the fans at Old Trafford, while the players were booed after the match.
"It is very difficult for me to go through days like this. Obviously, I feel a huge sense of responsibility. It is very painful to see us in this situation.
"This was not my farewell. There are simply a lot of different emotions swirling inside me.
"I greatly appreciate the fans’ support. Unfortunately, we are in the situation we are in. We are certainly not satisfied with either the results or the performances.
"The situation is very difficult, and there is no point hiding from it. At the moment, I cannot say what awaits us in the near future. I will always do what is best for this football club.
"We will see what decisions are made. I am not expecting anything. I simply want to understand what happened today. This was a very important match for us, but we did not show that on the pitch,” Carrick said.
