Real Madrid claimed victory in the first El Clasico match of this season’s Spanish La Liga campaign.

José Mourinho’s side defeated Barcelona 2–1 away on Sunday.

After the match, the Real Madrid manager emphasized that his team’s goal was not to win El Clasico matches, but to win the championship.

"It is a great victory, but we have to get back to work. I will not allow the players to get carried away after this win. This victory will mean nothing if we lose next week.

"Real Madrid’s objective is not to win at the Camp Nou; our objective is to win the league. We must keep going,” Mourinho said after the victory.
