J. Ch. Dreesen: "Bayern” can sign any player © scanpix

Jan-Christian Dreesen, chairman of the board of Bayern Munich, stated that the German football giant has the financial means to sign any player, but emphasized that the club has no intention of wasting money simply for famous names.

In an interview with Sport Bild, J. C. Dreesen made the comments following reports that Bayern, after selling an additional stake in the club, had raised 250 million euros. This allows the Bundesliga champions to look confidently toward their financial future.

According to J. C. Dreesen, Bayern has sufficient funds to complete any deal, but an expensive footballer is not necessarily the right choice.

"We have the financial means to complete any player transfer. However, first and foremost, an expensive footballer is not necessarily a good one.

Second, he must fit our team. That is why I say: we can afford to sign any footballer, but we do not want to buy just anyone.

A newcomer must first fit the coach’s and the club’s philosophy. A famous name alone is not enough,” said J. C. Dreesen.
