UEFA confirmed that Jesús de Miguel, the deceased Tenerife forward, will be honored at matches organized by the governing body.

A minute’s silence will be observed before the matches in memory of the footballer.

The initiative will be carried out at the UEFA Champions League matches taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday, as well as at the Europa League and Conference League fixtures scheduled for Thursday.

In an official statement, UEFA expressed its deepest condolences to the footballer’s family, loved ones, friends and teammates.

"The European football community is mourning,” the UEFA statement said.

Jesús de Miguel died after Monday’s Spanish second-division match, in which Tenerife faced Andorra.

During the match, the forward collided with the opposing goalkeeper, Jesús Owono.
