What Happens Before "Here We Go”: Behind the Scenes of F. Romano’s Work © EuroFootball.com

Famous football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano spoke about the behind-the-scenes aspects of his work, his sources of information and his plans for the future on the „Bet It Drives Show.“

The Italian recalled how, in 2021, he had information about Cristiano Ronaldo’s return to „Manchester United,“ but his employer at the time, „Sky“ television, demanded additional confirmation.

While Romano was waiting, another journalist was the first to break the news.

The transfer insider revealed that the most valuable information is often provided not by famous agents or club executives, but by lesser-known people in the football world. He trusts some sources so strongly that one phone call is enough, while in other cases as many as five confirmations are required.

During the busiest periods of the transfer window, the journalist publishes more than 100 posts a day across various platforms. Despite his enormous workload, he is assisted by just a few people, while Romano himself is responsible for gathering and publishing the information.

The journalist also revealed that he has repeatedly turned down offers to create a paid news app.

He wants football transfer information to remain free for all fans.

Speaking about the future, Romano admitted that he would like to devote more attention to in-depth reports and video stories about footballers.

Nevertheless, he has no intention of giving up football transfer journalism and does not want to build a huge newsroom – his priority is to retain control over his work and maintain its quality.
