Everton secured their first away win of the season in the Premier League with a narrow 1–0 victory over Newcastle United.

The decisive moment came in the 49th minute, when Newcastle United goalkeeper L. Horníček could only parry T. George’s effort following a quickly taken free kick.

Thierno Barry was first to the rebound and sent the ball into the net to put Everton ahead.

After conceding, the hosts attempted to take control and level the score. In the 66th minute, A. Elanga hit the post, while late in the match, Everton goalkeeper J. Pickford, who had performed reliably, saved Y. Wissa’s efforts.

In the 90+8th minute, J. Ramsey was sent off for receiving a second yellow card.
