Sensation: Fourth-tier English club Fleetwood eliminated Arsenal from the League Cup © PA

A major shock in the English League Cup ("Carabao Cup”).

In the fourth round, Fleetwood Town defeated English champions Arsenal in a penalty shootout. Regulation time ended 1–1.

Aaron Loupalo-Bi put Fleetwood ahead in the 21st minute.

Viktor Gyökeres equalized in the 50th minute.

Another important incident occurred in the 85th minute. The somewhat hot-headed 16-year-old Max Dowman fouled an opponent and was sent off.

Arsenal could not find a winning goal, so the match went to a penalty shootout.

Bruno Guimarães missed the penultimate penalty, while the Fleetwood Town players converted all of theirs.

Fleetwood Town are only 18th in England’s fourth division ("League Two”) and are close to dropping into semi-professional football.
