On Monday evening, the 2026 Ballon d’Or awards ceremony is taking place in London.
The first winners and some of the rankings of the year’s best male and female footballers have already been announced at the 70th edition of the event.
One of the evening’s main highlights was the recognition of young football talents.
Lamine Yamal won the award for best young male footballer. The Spain and Barcelona star claimed the title for the third consecutive time.
In the women’s category, another Barcelona player, Vicky López, triumphed, being named the best young female footballer for the second year in a row.
The achievements of coaches did not go unnoticed either.
Spain manager Luis de la Fuente won the award for best men’s football coach, while Barcelona coach Pere Romeu was honored in the women’s football category.
The award for the year’s best female goalkeeper went to Barcelona’s Cata Coll. The 25-year-old made a significant contribution to the Catalan club’s highly successful season, during which the team won four titles. Barcelona conceded only nine goals throughout the Spanish league season.
Even before the main winners were announced, the organizers revealed some of the results of the men’s and women’s Ballon d’Or voting.
Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham finished 11th in the men’s rankings. He was followed by Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsí, while 13th place went to Achraf Hakimi.
Portugal’s Vitinha finished 14th, while Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice was 15th.
They were followed by Ferran Torres (16th), Vinícius (17th), Marc Cucurella (18th), João Neves (19th), and Willian Pacho (20th).
