Former star player Gary Neville has hinted that Michael Carrick’s dismissal as Manchester United manager is now almost inevitable.
Such speculation was fuelled by Sunday’s crushing 3–0 home defeat to Bournemouth.
Man Utd have now gone eight consecutive matches without a win, so the pressure on Carrick continues to mount. The fans are increasingly voicing their dissatisfaction with the club’s management and players.
"It will be incredibly difficult for Michael to continue as Man Utd’s head coach. It is hard to say that. I played alongside him and I know him.
After the latest match, the Red Devils fans chanted Carrick’s name because I think they understand what is about to happen here. They have seen this situation before.
He is one of their own and is well liked. However, the club’s owners, sporting department and players are unpopular. They have badly let everyone down, and those two men—Berrada and Wilcox—will probably make a decision that will anger the fans, but it will most likely be necessary.
It is a complete mess. The football club is completely dysfunctional at the moment,” Neville explained.
