For the first time, the viewers watching the World Championship saw the adapted "Prestige Rule".
During the match between Paraguay and Turkey, a scuffle broke out among the players.
In the 44th minute of the match, Paraguayan Miguel Almirón began to say something to Turkish player Mert Müldür while covering his mouth.
The latter, as if possessed, began to signal to the referee that the new FIFA rule, which prohibits a player from covering their mouth during conflicts, had been violated.
Match referee Ivan Barton decided to send M. Almirón off the field after a VAR review.
Nevertheless, even the numerical advantage did not help the Turks avoid a 0:1 defeat and elimination from the World Championship.
