The United States national team fought at home for their second consecutive victory and almost secured a place in the World Cup knockout stage.

In the second match, Mauricio Pochettino's team defeated Australia 2-0.

The US team played very well in the first half.

In the 11th minute, Australian defender Cameron Burgess scored an own goal. Folarin Balogun's activity contributed to this goal.

In the 44th minute, Alexander Freeman doubled the score. He took advantage of the confusion in the penalty area, scoring with a close-range header. Just minutes before, the defender had faced a serious problem when he collided heads with an opponent.

In the second half, the Americans somewhat relinquished the initiative to the Australians, but they did not score a goal.

For the first time since 1994, the US has fought for two consecutive victories in the World Cup.
