„La Liga“ decided to suspend the controversially officiating referee in the Madrid derby, Miguel Angel Ortiz Arias.

It is reported that due to the poor evaluation of the referee's performance in the match between „Atletico“ and Madrid „Real“ clubs, he should not expect assignments in the next two league rounds.

Previously, AS reported that the Technical Committee of Spanish Referees (CTA) believes that M. A. Ortiz Arias should have shown a red card to „Atletico“ winger Lee Kang-in for a rough foul against „Real“ midfielder Federico Valverde.

However, the CTA positively assessed another important referee decision – the red card shown to Real Madrid's center-back Dean Huijsen for a foul against Giuliano Simeone.

The referees' committee also evaluated the encounter between „Atletico“ defender Cristian Romero and „Real“ midfielder Jude Bellingham.

This episode is considered debatable. Initially, M. A. Ortiz Arias showed a yellow card to J. Bellingham, but after a VAR review, he changed his decision and cautioned C. Romero.
