"Barcelona” are interested in Ecuador national team defender Piero Hincapie.

Spanish media report that the Catalan club’s sporting director, Deco, has already made initial contact with the 24-year-old footballer’s representatives to find out the conditions of a possible transfer.

The South American footballer, who currently plays for London club "Arsenal,” is not getting as much playing time as he would like.

"Barcelona” intend to take advantage of the situation, as the Catalan club’s sporting director, Deco, and head coach, Hansi Flick, highly value the defender’s versatility.

Hincapie can successfully play both as a centre-back and as a left-back, so he would be a useful addition to the Catalan club’s defence.

The player’s market value is €50–60 million.
