On Tuesday evening, Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal etched his name into European football history, surpassing Kylian Mbappé to become the highest-scoring player under the age of 20 in UEFA Champions League history.
The young Catalan talent capitalized on a mistake by the opposition’s defense and expertly sent the ball into Aston Villa’s net in the 7th minute at Camp Nou.
It was already his 14th goal in the Champions League in just 37 appearances.
At just 19 years and 113 days old, L. Yamal broke the previous record, which belonged to Real Madrid forward K. Mbappé. The Frenchman had scored 13 goals in the Champions League before his 20th birthday.
The match ended in a 3–0 victory for the La Liga side.
