Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick commented on the situation of four injured defenders and Gavi’s relatively limited playing time:

"We have four injured players in the defensive line.

Meanwhile, Xavi Espart will not return until next year.”

"We all know Gavi’s quality. He is always an option.

I spoke with him so that the Spaniard would understand how I feel about him.

Gavi is a very important player for us.”

Gavi has played seven matches this season.

Before his injury, the midfielder’s role in this team was considerably bigger.
