Kauno Žalgiris has yet to answer the title question

The champion was not decided in the 34th round of the TOP LEAGUE, as Kauno Žalgiris failed to defeat Vilnius Žalgiris. After a hard-fought match, the teams played out a goalless 0–0 draw.

Both teams created several good scoring opportunities in the first half. After a mistake by Yukiyoshi Karashima in the first minute, Stanislav Bilenkyi tested Tomas Švedkauskas’ alertness. Shortly afterwards, the Ukrainian failed to convert an excellent chance following a pass from Klaudijus Upstas.

The hosts also had their say: a combination between Anthony Kalik and Amine Benchaib ended with a shot from the latter, but Vincentas Šarkauskas came to his team’s rescue. T. Švedkauskas did the same shortly afterwards when Bryan Teixeira launched an attack.

Kauno Žalgiris played better after the break. Anthony Kalik had two excellent chances to score but failed to take them. In the closing minutes, Rokas Lekiatas broke away from his opponent and tried to shoot, but failed to make clean contact with the ball.

The Kaunas side have 55 points and eliminated Žalgiris from the title race. The Vilnius club sit second with 51 points.
