The ambitious plans of the Turkish national team to make a splash at the World Football Championship ended in failure.

After two losses, the European team lost even their theoretical hopes of advancing to the next stage of the tournament.

The Turks suffered a particularly painful defeat against the Paraguay team (0:1), as they even failed to capitalize on their numerical superiority on the field.

After the defeat against the Paraguayans, Turkish team leader Arda Güler said:

"We are very sad and ashamed. We apologize to all our compatriots.

I promise that for the rest of my career, I will do everything to ensure that people forget this unsuccessful tournament.

We represent great clubs, and we need to prove that on the field. We had no problems in the locker room; we just failed to implement the coach's plans on the field and score goals.”
