FIFA president Gianni Infantino hinted at an impending significant change in future World Cup tournaments.

According to the official, the number of teams in the sports fiesta could be further increased.

"We have already considered expanding the number of teams to 64, in order to include more of the world.

This proposal has been submitted for FIFA council consideration, but for now, let's enjoy the 48-team championships," said G. Infantino.

"With 64 teams, perhaps the Italians would have qualified. If not, then we will increase the number of teams to 208 to ensure their participation," concluded the FIFA president at the end of the conversation.
