The smallest participant ever in terms of population at the World Cup, Curaçao, celebrates a historic result.

In Group E, the Caribbean island's footballers drew 0:0 with Ecuador and earned their first point in tournament history.

The Curaçao players endured a real onslaught from their opponents, and their goalkeeper Eloy Room saved 15 shots.

After the final whistle from the referee, the Curaçao players could not hide their emotions, and later in the locker room, they were congratulated by King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands.

Most of the players from the tiny island nation’s national team were born or raised in this country.
