Bottom-of-the-table English Premier League side Manchester United
will face another very serious challenge on Saturday.
The Red Devils
are set to play away against London side Chelsea
, who have looked solid so far this season.
Michael Carrick will remain in charge of United
for this match, having kept his job despite the extremely poor results at the start of the season.
Last week, Carrick also faced public criticism from team captain Bruno Fernandes, after which the Portuguese midfielder began the match against Bournemouth
on the bench.
However, ahead of the match against Chelsea
, Carrick assured that Fernandes would remain Man Utd
captain.
He is our club captain. We are all different personalities, with different characters. In the end, everything comes down to winning on the pitch.
Fernandes cares deeply about this club and wants to help it. We will try to do that together, Carrick said at a press conference.
The Englishman also insisted that he does not need any guarantees about his future.
I don't need any guarantees. I understand my position and the responsibility that comes with it,
the manager said.
Carrick also insisted that he was not surprised to remain in charge of the team.
It doesn't surprise me. I am here to do my job and help the team. I desperately want to get the team out of this situation,
Carrick emphasized.
