M. Carrick on the upcoming return to the Champions League: 'We can't place too much importance on it' © PA

"Manchester United" on Monday night defeated "Brentford" in the "Premier" league at home and has almost secured a place in next season's UEFA Champions League.

"The Red Devils" need to collect just two points in four matches or hope for at least one draw from "Brighton."

Still, after a very important victory, "Man Utd" manager Michael Carrick stated that such a club cannot overemphasize simply qualifying for the Champions League.

"We created the situation in which we now find ourselves, and we have a chance to return to the Champions League. This is an incredibly difficult league, where it's very challenging to collect victories. I believe the players deserve respect for what they've done."

Returning to the Champions League would be great, but we cannot overemphasize that. We want to fight for the highest positions in the league," Carrick said after the match.

"United" saw another great match from Casemiro, who will leave the team after the season. "The Red Devils" fans at the stadium on Monday urged the Brazilian to stay with the team for at least another season, but it seems that the decision to part ways will not be changed.

"Both sides clearly understand everything. I believe that this clarity since January contributes to Casemiro's performance. I want to thank him very much, as even in such a situation, he gives his all on the pitch," Carrick added.
