Atlético Madrid secured a 1–0 victory over Deportivo La Coruña.

Julián Álvarez, who scored the only goal, apologized to Atleti fans in an interview with Movistar for his comments during the summer:

"I want to apologize to our supporters for the comments I made during the World Cup. It was a mistake.

The timing and the words I used were inappropriate—I am sorry.

I fully understand why the fans were angry. I would also have been angry if I were a supporter.”

"I hope that through hard work and humility, I can turn the whole situation around.”

Julián Álvarez scored his second goal of the season.

During the summer, he was heavily linked with Barcelona.
