Oddity: The champions’ trophy broke during Kaunas Žalgiris’ triumph

On Saturday evening, the Kaunas Žalgiris footballers defeated the Kaunas district Hegelmann team 4–1 (2–1) away from home and secured the TOPLYGA championship title.

After the referee’s final whistle, the pitch was filled with joy, emotion, and congratulations, but the celebration was unexpectedly marred by a curious incident.

The Žalgiris players who had won the championship title took turns lifting the winners’ trophy and celebrating their historic achievement.

However, when the trophy came into the hands of Belgian Amine Benchaib, something happened that no one expected. As the footballer lifted the trophy, one of its handles suddenly broke off.
