Kaunas Žalgiris crushed Riteriai in the cup

Coached by Eivinas Černiauskas, FK "Kauno Žalgiris" confidently advanced to the quarter-finals of the LFF Cup. In the round of 16 match, the Kaunas team defeated Vilnius "Riteriai" with a score of 4:0 (3:0) away.

After a corner kick, the Žalgiris players created their first chance in the tenth minute of the match when Amine Benchaïb headed the ball towards the goal from a couple of meters. His shot was saved by the "Riteriai" goalkeeper, but soon the Belgian of "Kauno Žalgiris" triumphed.

The Žalgiris players took possession of the ball in the center of the field, Yukiyoshi Karashima made a forward pass, and after bringing the ball into the opponent's penalty area, A.Benchaïb outsmarted his opponent and sent the ball into the net - 1:0.

In the 19th minute, the green and whites launched another excellent attack, which resulted in a goal. A.Benchaïb found Nosa Edokpolor on the wing, and after this cross pass, Leo Ribeiro shot accurately - 2:0.

The only chance for "Riteriai" in the first half came in the 33rd minute of the match when Deividas Mikelionis had to save a shot from an opponent aimed at the near corner.

At the end of the half, the green and whites had several more dangerous attacks. Initially, the Žalgiris players launched another counterattack, which Y.Karashima ended with a shot that went close to the post, and during the final attack, they managed to score a goal.

A.Benchaïb took the ball from the last "Riteriai" defender, was one-on-one with the goalkeeper but couldn't get past him, however, the rebound was sent into the net by forward Davis Ikauniekas - 3:0.

Just as the second half began, "Kauno Žalgiris" had another great chance, but after A.Benchaïb’s pass, Fabien Ourega failed to hit the target.

A few minutes later, A.Benchaïb also created a great opportunity in the penalty area, but the opposing goalkeeper performed fantastically again.

In the 60th minute, the "Riteriai" goalkeeper won another duel - he saved A.Benchaïb's shot from an 11-meter penalty.

Shortly afterward, Arvydas Novikovas tested D.Mikelionis's vigilance with a long shot, and after a corner kick, there was another danger in the penalty area, but the Kaunas team managed to defend.

In the 69th minute, Damjanas Pavlovičius shot from a distance, and in the 72nd minute, D.Mikelionis saved "Kauno Žalgiris" once again.

In the 75th minute, a corner from the Kaunas team almost turned into a goal. After Franco Baldassarra's pass, Aldayras Hernández made a powerful header, but he couldn't hit the target.

In the 80th minute, D.Ikauniekas was one-on-one with the goalkeeper but also failed to convert his chance into a goal, and five minutes later, after a pass from the Latvian, the fourth goal was scored.

Receiving a pass from deep, D.Ikauniekas made a cross pass, and with one touch, F.Baldassarra scored the goal and sealed the score at 4:0.
