Žalgiris delighted fans with a rare victory

In the 12th round of the TOPLYGA, the account of victories was supplemented by Vilnius "Žalgiris". The Žalgiris team won at home with a score of 3:1 (1:0) against FA "Šiauliai", who fell to 9th place.

In the first half, the teams did not create many dangerous episodes. After a serious mistake in the middle of the pitch, the Šiauliai team broke forward, but Chidera Henry Nwoga's attempt was saved by Carlos Olsesas.

In the 41st minute, "Žalgiris" launched a beautiful positional attack and broke into the lead. After Klaudijus Upstas's pass from the right flank, central defender Grigore Turda accurately headed the ball into the net.

In the second half, the Žalgiris team did not take long to score their second goal – in the 51st minute, after a corner kicked by Marko Capano, another central defender Petar Bosančić scored with his head. However, "Žalgiris" relinquished the initiative to their opponents, and in the 63rd minute, after Rui Batalha’s shot, Jurijus Kendyšas redirected the ball into his own net.

With Matas Vareika returning to the lineup, the home team's attack revived – several good opportunities were not converted. Nevertheless, the opened spaces allowed Bryan Teixeira to find Nikola Petković in the fourth minute of added time, and the Serb capitalized on his opportunity.

With 18 points, "Žalgiris" rose to 5th place, while the representatives of the Sun City have 11 points and are in ninth place.
