Defending Champions League winners PSG showed no mercy to the Spanish club.

Playing away from home, the Parisian side thrashed Villarreal 6–0.

In the first 17 minutes, the visitors scored four goals, with João Neves, Désiré Doué, Senny Mayulu and Fabián Ruiz each adding one.

Fabián Ruiz scored again after the break, before David Boly hammered the final nail into the coffin.
