"Barcelona" talent Lamine Yamal may soon break the nearly three-decade-old "Ballon d'Or" voting record.

The Spaniard, who is among the 30 candidates for the prestigious 2026 award, will compete against players such as Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, Erling Haaland, and defending champion Ousmane Dembélé.

If Lamine Yamal were to win the prize, he would become the youngest winner in the history of the awards, surpassing Brazilian legend Ronaldo.

The Brazilian triumphed in 1997 at the age of 21 years and 92 days.

Meanwhile, the "Barcelona" star is currently only 19 years old, so if he wins, he would break Ronaldo's record by more than two years.

In 2024, Lamine Yamal placed eighth in the voting, and in 2025 he was second, finishing only behind Ousmane Dembélé.
