Football legends Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo's Instagram accounts – unpleasant changes.

Both the Argentine and the Portuguese lost millions of followers within a few hours.

It has been counted that Messi lost five million, while Ronaldo lost as many as eight million fans.

It is reported that this happened not because of the players' performances or unsuccessful posts. The lost followers were determined by a preventive cleanup conducted by Instagram, during which inactive, fake, or bot-created accounts were removed.

Despite the losses, Ronaldo (666 million) and Messi (507 million) remain the most popular people on the platform.
