The 35th round of TOPLYGA featured a hard-fought battle between FA "Šiauliai” and Telšiai "Džiugas.” Dovydas Lastauskas’ charges overturned a goal deficit, ended their losing streak, and celebrated a 2:1 (0:1) victory.
Just after the match began, Andrius Lipskis was forced to make a substitution, as Telšiai player Nikita Pavlovski was unable to continue due to injury.
After just seven minutes, the first goal was scored—following Valentino Vermeulen’s cross, Ronald Sobowale, left unmarked in the penalty area, headed the ball accurately into the net.
Soon afterward, a penalty was awarded to the visitors, but Benny Silva failed to beat Marius Paukštė, who brilliantly saved the shot.
After more than half an hour, "Džiugas” midfielder Denis Zhevzhikov unleashed a powerful shot from outside the penalty area, but the ball struck the crossbar and did not end up in the net.
At the beginning of the second half, "Džiugas” came close to scoring from a set piece, but the first shot was blocked by the Šiauliai defenders, while Pedro Bahia missed the target with the second attempt.
In the 64th minute, the team from the Sun City scored the equalizer. Goalkeeper Marius Paukštė failed to communicate with Vilius Piliukaitis, and Nedas Garbaliauskas took advantage of the gift to restore parity.
A little more than 10 minutes later, another penalty was awarded to the Telšiai side, and this time Lazar Vuković made no mistake from the penalty spot and scored.
Towards the end of the match, the home side’s defender Martynas Dapkus was shown a second yellow card.
Following this victory, Šiauliai remain at the bottom of the league table with 21 points and await their opponent in the playoff, while "Džiugas” have 42 points and sit in sixth place.
