FK "Kauno Žalgiris" will have one of the most important matches of the season on Wednesday at the central stadium in Jonava. Their importance is guaranteed by a spot in the main stage of one of the UEFA tournaments.

In the Faroe Islands, the players drew 0:0 with the champions of that country, "Klaksvik," which means that everything will be decided right here in Lithuania.

On Monday, the Kaunas team already held a training session at the Jonava stadium, and after it, defender Rokas Lekiatas shared his insights.

"I wouldn't say that the preparation for the match is going in any way differently than for the local championship matches. We gathered after a few days off, there were training sessions and video reviews. We analyzed our matches, what we did well, what poorly, and what we can improve. It's an ongoing weekly process,” said the footballer to zalgiris.lt.

After last week's away match, over the weekend the players of "Kauno Žalgiris" did not play any TOPLYGA matches and had a bit more time to prepare for the aforementioned duel.

"There wasn't much time for training, as we had only recovery and pre-match sessions for a long time. In this case, we had a few extra days, the coach emphasized the principles we need to adhere to and what kind of football we need to play. We utilized those days tactically," said the Lithuania national team defender.

There are only a few tickets left for Wednesday's match at the Jonava stadium, so the match will take place in front of a packed crowd.

"The conditions in the stadium are superb, everything is fine. There’s nothing to complain about, especially when the stands are full - it’s going to be great," said R. Lekiatas eagerly awaiting the duel.

According to Lekiatas, "Klaksvik's" style is already familiar to the team; they just need to utilize all the knowledge and skills against them.

"We hope there will be goals. We know their strategies and tendencies both in attack and defense. We analyzed and saw their leaders live, so we need to keep all that information in mind and use it in the matches,” concluded the footballer.
