Spanish football takes another step towards greater transparency.

It has been officially announced that, starting with this weekend’s matches, referees will begin speaking to the media after games.

According to "Cadena SER”, this initiative will be introduced from the 11th round of the Spanish "La Liga” championship.

Each round, the Spanish Technical Committee of Referees (CTA) will select two matches, after which the referees who officiated them will give interviews to the championship’s official broadcasters.

Interviews with referees before matches were introduced at the beginning of this season, and now fans will also have the opportunity to hear the officials’ comments after games, better understand the decisions they made and their view of how the match unfolded.

In addition, under the agreement reached, "La Liga” has allocated a €500,000 bonus fund, which will be distributed among referees for their participation in audiovisual activities.
