Florentino Pérez has been re-elected as the president of the Madrid "Real" club.

The 79-year-old long-time "Real" president received 65 percent of the board's votes in the elections, defeating the challenger Enrique Riquelme.

This was the first "Real" presidential election since 2006, when more than one candidate competed for the position.

Pérez has been president of the "royal" club since 2009, and before that, he held the position from 2000 to 2006.

These election results mean that soon the reins of "Real" will officially be taken over by Jose Mourinho.
