P. Jakelis: "It Just Blew the Roof Off"

Renowned television commentator Paulius Jakelis reacted to the fantastic victory of Vilnius "Žalgiris" in the Conference League qualifiers.

The team from the capital won 7:2 at home against Tbilisi "Dinamo" and advanced to the third qualifying round.

"No matter what I would write, it would be too little to adequately describe what and in what style Vilnius "Žalgiris" did today. Moments like this make it worth loving football, worth being part of it in one way or another.

Because it redeems everything. All those moments when someone laughs at our football, moments when on a rainy autumn evening you watch the match with a few hundred others, when due to regular matches you sometimes travel across the country during a workday. Such moments can only be given by your own.

Not the "Premier" league, not foreign clubs with which so many often identify. Because our victories are only our victories. And today I am immensely happy.

It was great to shout in Iceland with my brother as if we were still working at "Žalgiris," just like it was seven years ago.

And yes, I am one of those who support all our clubs in Europe. The victory of every club in Europe is Lithuania's and our victory, from which everyone ultimately benefits much more. I am incredibly happy for "Kauno Žalgiris," in terms of emotions, Vilnius "Žalgiris" simply blew the roof off, and in the case of "Panevėžys," it is a great pity for Vytautas Černiauskas, who was an absolute leader.
