NEC unexpectedly slipped into the Champions League

In the Dutch football championship "Eredivisie," the club that took third place was unexpected.

First place in "Eredivisie" was taken by PSV Eindhoven, second by Feyenoord Rotterdam, and third by NEC Nijmegen players.

NEC defeated Go Ahead Eagles 2:1 in the last round and benefited from Twente's stumble. They lost 1:5 to champions PSV.

Twente will play in the Europa League, while Ajax, finishing in 5th place, will fight for a spot in the Conference League qualification.
