In modern football, not only players’ sporting form but also their appearance is becoming increasingly important. Footballers are constantly seen on television screens, in advertisements, and on social media, so their smiles, hairstyles, and even facial contours attract enormous attention. Some football stars openly discuss the cosmetic procedures they have undergone, while changes in others’ appearances spark plenty of speculation.
One of the latest examples is Real Madrid star Vinicius. In July 2026, reports emerged that the Brazilian had undergone chin contouring with hyaluronic acid fillers. After the procedure, the footballer’s chin appeared more pronounced, and his changed appearance quickly became a topic of discussion on social media.
Perhaps the most famous example of changes in footballers’ appearances is Cristiano Ronaldo. When the Portuguese arrived at Manchester United in 2003, his appearance was markedly different from his current one. The footballer’s smile changed particularly noticeably. Ronaldo is regarded as one of the players who helped popularize the trend of extremely white teeth. The media have also repeatedly speculated about a possible nose operation, Botox, and facial fillers.
Former Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino also became famous for his exceptionally white smile. Similar cosmetic dentistry trends have also been associated with Neymar, Philippe Coutinho, Lucas Leiva, Enzo Fernández, and Rodrygo.
Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has also spoken openly about changes to his appearance. Back in 2011, the Englishman publicly admitted that he had undergone a hair transplant. In 2026, Rooney also spoke about having nose surgery. However, the procedure was related not to appearance but to his health—the nose, which had been broken twice during the footballer’s career, had caused breathing problems.
The growing popularity of aesthetic medicine is also reflected in global statistics. According to the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, in 2024 plastic surgeons worldwide performed approximately 7.8 million botulinum toxin procedures and 6.3 million hyaluronic acid filler procedures.
