"Aston Villa” had a very difficult start to the new season.

In the first match of the season in the Premier League, Unai Emery's team lost 0:4 to the hosts Brighton.

All the goals were scored in the first half. In the 8th minute, Victor Lindelöf scored an own goal.

In the 18th minute, Maxim de Cuyper doubled the lead, and Jack Hinshelwood added two more goals.

For both teams, this was not their first official match of the new season – Aston Villa lost 1:2 to PSG in the UEFA Super Cup final, while Brighton drew 0:0 away against Tromsø in the Conference League qualifiers, where it was the final stage.
