Tenacious 'Sūduva' defeated the Šiauliai team

In the 29th round of TOPLYGA, the championship leader "Sūduva" traveled to the Solar City and faced FA "Šiauliai". In a fierce match, Donato Vencevičius' team defeated their opponents with a score of 2:1 (1:0).

At the beginning of the meeting, the players from Šiauliai had the ball a little longer, but the first opportunity was created by the guests from Marijampolė. During a counterattack, after Ernesto Stočkūnas' pass, Frankline Tangiri found himself in a good position, but he failed to hit the target. A little later, Faustas Steponavičius had an opportunity as well, but his shot was saved by Šiauliai's goalkeeper Gustas Baliutavičius.

After more than 20 minutes of play, "Sūduva" goalkeeper Ignas Plūkas made a huge mistake - the goalkeeper simply gifted the ball to Daniel Romanowski, but the attacking midfielder could not convert the golden opportunity into a goal.

In the 38th minute, the first goal was scored - following Ibrahim Sekou's pass, Steve Lawson struck impressively into the top corner of the net.

At the beginning of the second half, the home team restored the balance. Lazar Vuković launched a long-range shot, the ball hit one of the Marijampolė defenders and flew into the net.

In the 73rd minute, Moutira Chajia, who appeared on the field as a substitute in the second match in a row, shone in an individual episode. The Belgian confused an opponent and accurately shot into the lower corner of the net.

After this victory, "Sūduva" solidifies its position at the top of the league table with 45 points, while FA "Šiauliai" remains in ninth place with 16 points.
