Arsenal shocked its employees: M. Arteta 'swallowed' their salaries © scanpix

Recently signed a new contract with Arsenal, coach Mikel Arteta could lead to significant changes among the team's staff.

According to The Athletic, the London club plans to eliminate about 60 positions.

It is claimed that employees were already informed about these plans.

The planned job cuts would occur despite the club's record revenue of £691 million for the 2024–2025 financial year.

The changes would affect several club departments, but it is intended to protect coaching staff, fitness specialists, community engagement, security, and women's team employees from layoffs.

This news came shortly after Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta signed a new contract that will be valid until 2030.

Reports indicate that under this deal, the Spaniard became the highest-paid Premier League coach and possibly the best-paid manager in the world.

This, according to the press, could have significantly contributed to the decision to reduce the team’s staff.
