Information has emerged in the media about the impending attempt by FIFA President Gianni Infantino to sell shares in the World Cup tournament.
UEFA reacted immediately to this information, as it has recently been fostering quite cool relations with FIFA.
"UEFA takes this news seriously. Every national football association should take it seriously as well.
This crosses the line that governing bodies of football should never cross.
The soul and governance of football are not commodities that can be traded. Especially when this could be done with complete lack of transparency about who gets the shares and why,” UEFA wrote in an official statement.
