As expected, after the first qualification round of the Champions League, Kaunas "Žalgiris" would have to move to Jonava in the second round, as club president Mantas Kalnietis stated in early July to Eurofootball.lt.

This situation was also confirmed by the president of the Lithuanian Football Federation, Edgaras Stankevičius.

The LFF leader spoke about "Kaunas Žalgiris" victory to lrt.lt: "A historic moment, congratulations to the entire "Kaunas Žalgiris" organization and fans. It is truly a historic achievement - reaching the second qualification round, in which any of the two potential opponents, I believe, are definitely beatable.

It would be a celebration for all of Lithuanian football to secure a place in Europe. I believe that's the goal for all of us.

It's a pity that this won't be possible for our own spectators to fill the Darius and Girėnas stadium to the maximum capacity. From my conversations with the president of "Kaunas Žalgiris", that concert was scheduled in advance; it was already clear last year that in the summer, after passing the first round, we would have to play in Jonava. It is very unfortunate that it is this way," commented E. Stankevičius on the situation.
