FIFA president Gianni Infantino is trying to fend off flying criticism regarding the inconvenient new feature of the World Cup – hydration breaks.
According to the official, this decision was not influenced by the organization’s desire to earn as much money as possible.
"The main reason is the heat, but at the same time we understand that in such a tournament, which lasts 39 days and teams can play up to 8 matches, it's a good opportunity to rest.
I must emphasize that equality is essential – all teams must have the same conditions.
As a result of this decision, FIFA is not gaining any additional revenue; all commercial agreements were signed long ago.
So, it’s not about the desire to get rich – our main concern is the sporting interest,” said G. Infantino.
