Kaunas Žalgiris crushed the Panevėžys team

The 22nd TOP League round started at the Darius and Girėnas Stadium. "Kauno Žalgiris," in front of their home fans, handled the "Panevėžys" team without much trouble and celebrated a convincing victory with a score of 3:0 (2:0).

It didn't take long to wait for the first goal – in the 7th minute, Marko Konatar delivered a great pass towards the far post, and Renan Oliveira finished the attack with a header. A little later, Motiejus Burba threatened from just outside the penalty area, but Vytautas Černiauskas managed to deflect the ball.

In the 20th minute, V. Černiauskas left his goal in an attempt to send the ball away, but it was last touched by R. Oliveira, and the rolling ball was close to finding the net. In the 23rd minute, M. Burba uniquely found the free Amine Benchaib in the penalty area, and this shot turned into the second goal for the Kaunas team.

At the start of the second half, the home team continued to look strong. Lovro Grajfoner committed a foul near his own goal, and in the 57th minute, A. Benchaib converted from the penalty spot. Soon after, Isaacas Asante responded with a shot, which Tomas Švedkauskas handled.

In the 70th minute, the goalkeeper of the green and whites showcased his reflexes – after an I. Asante pass, Nauris Petkevičius, while inverted towards the goal, made a header, but T. Švedkauskas defended well for his team. After 5 minutes, V. Černiauskas also had work to do, saving his goal from M. Burba's attempt.

"Kauno Žalgiris," after playing the matches of the 22nd TOP League round with 31 points, temporarily climbed to the top of the league table, while "Panevėžys" has 19 points and is ranked eighth.
