It is reported that the global football organization will begin a consultation process regarding the possibility of expanding the men's World Cup from 48 to 64 teams.

As reported by ESPN, based on documents seen, a decision on further actions should be made by August 14.

FIFA has released a five-page document titled "Possible Expansion of the FIFA World Cup to 64 Teams," which outlines the involvement of an independent agency.

This agency is supposed to assess the sports, commercial, and logistical aspects if the number of tournament participants is increased to 64 starting in 2030.

According to the proposed timeline, research proposals must be submitted by August 7, FIFA plans to make a decision on further actions on August 14, and the final analysis is expected to be submitted on September 11.
