The newspaper "Bild" revealed an interesting detail after yet another German fiasco in the World Cup.
The 2026 tournament saw Germany exit after a loss to Paraguay. The latter equalized with a 1:1 score and was more accurate in the penalty shootout.
According to "Bild," the German national team struggled to find someone willing to take the penalty.
Among the players who were afraid were Leon Goretzka, Waldemar Anton, Nathaniel Brown, and Malick Thiaw.
The only one who was not afraid was Jonathan Tah, who stepped up to the mark. However, the center-back's penalty was inaccurate, and "Die Mannschaft" soon suffered a painful defeat.
