B. Mussolini's great-grandson debuted in the ranks of 'Lazio'

Rome's "Lazio" team – a player debut that made waves.

On Monday evening, defender Romano Floriani Mussolini played his first official match with the "Serie A" team.

The 23-year-old defender is currently more known not for his performances on the field, but for his great-grandfather – Italy's fascist dictator Benito Mussolini.

Italian media notes that Lazio's away match against Bologna was marked by an interesting coincidence.

Bologna's "Renato Dall'Ara" stadium was originally called "Stadio Littoriale," and it was inaugurated on October 31, 1926, by Benito Mussolini himself, who arrived at the ceremony riding a horse.

Almost a century later, his great-grandson stepped onto the same field as a professional football player.

However, F. Mussolini has decided not to stir up additional passions on the field and has requested to have only his first name – Romano – written on his jerseys.
